This November on Xbox Live: Higher Prices

Official spokesperson for all things Xbox, Major Nelson, announced on his blog that Xbox Live would see subscription fees raised by 20% across the board for all users.  This means the usual fee of $50/year for online play and access to about 80% of the features on the system, is now going to cost you $60/year.  It’s odd that MS has chose to do this during a nationwide recession and while both competitors are offering online services for free (Sony does have a subscription service as well that includes free games).  It also is strange that MS would do this while their biggest online competitor, Sony and it’s PS3, have began to close the gap with services like Netflix, MLB and Hulu Plus, which they offer free to all PS3 owners.
