Gears of War 3 gets a public beta

Today is a big day for Gears of War fans everywhere, myself included! Epic Games made a ton of huge announcements for Gears 3 and its online components, a huge piece of news is the announcement of dedicated servers for Gears 3, something players have been asking for since the first installment in this series. The biggest piece of news by far is a public beta. Epic has not given an exact date aside from early 2011. Gears 3 will also feature a pretty fleshed out unlock system including: alternate costumes (Cole Train in a thrashball outfit), weapon skins (pink lancer anyone?), and unlock-able executions as you increase your skill with a certain weapon. Wait there’s more! Gears 3 features a title system somewhat like Call of Duty, and the ability to mark enemies for your team (think Battlefield Bad Company 2). The pacing has been switched up a little meaning your characters won’t seem so sluggish when they move. Epic is really kicking it up a notch with the final chapter in the Gears trilogy, and I for one am very excited to see what else has been modified. Be sure to check out the game-play video below and stay tuned for more for more news as it’s announced.
